Meet the Team
A warm welcome with the highest professional standards in expertise and care
We understand that it can take many years to finally address a hearing problem, so we offer a warm and friendly welcome and will take the time to listen to your concerns and explore solutions together.
Our professional team of qualified hearing aid audiologists have over 70 years’ shared experience, both in the NHS and privately. We are all registered hearing aid dispensers with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Fellows of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA) and members of other key bodies, such as Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals (AIHHP). We place great emphasis on continuous training and development.
Together with our support team, we are dedicated to providing the highest professional and ethical standards of hearing, assuring confidentiality and personalised care in your journey back to hearing with us.
Managing director and senior audiologist, Vicki began her career in Audiology in 1977 with the NHS in Colchester. She subsequently worked in hearing research at Nottingham University and as Head of Audiology at Northampton General Hospital. Vicki gained her private qualifications in 1988 and practised independently off Harley Street and for a leading manufacturer in New Zealand, before returning to Colchester and establishing The Hearing Care Centre in 1998.
Vicki is a member of BAA, on the executive council of AIHHP and a Fellow of BSHAA. A Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser, she previously served on The Hearing Aid Council, the former regulatory body for the industry. Vicki is also a registered clinical physiologist and, in 2012, was named Colchester Businesswoman of the Year.
‘In today’s society, finding someone who cares about you as much as you care about yourself is rare. Vicki has demonstrated to me her commitment to her clients and profession is second to none.‘ Ken Hilton, Clacton-on-Sea
Qualified as an audiologist in 1999. After a long period with a regional hearing aid chain, including a management role, Richard is pleased to have returned to a smaller, more personalised practice. With his passion and genuine care for people, he is a valuable member of our professional team. Richard is also fully trained in earwax removal and microsuction and is our resident expert on the Lyric 24/7 invisible hearing device.
‘Special thanks to Richard for taking care of me so well and for all his expertise. His service has been excellent.’ Mrs J. Squire, Colchester
Joined us in January 2014, but has had an association with Vicki for over 20 years. Debbie qualified as an audiologist in 2000, and has been working for the independent sector ever since. She enjoys learning more about the wide variety of hearing instruments available, to find the best solutions for her clients. Debbie is fully trained in earwax removal and microsuction and is also a qualified tinnitus lay counsellor, running our specialist tinnitus clinic.
‘Excellent attention given by Debbie. Her service and aftercare was one of the main reasons I returned to The Hearing Care Centre.’ Mrs B. Chambers, Colchester
